1. What is Coin Exchange®?

Coin Exchange® is a Marketing Program and Graphic Wrap used with any of our Self Service Lobby Coin Counters. The marketing program allows you to sell a new product to your customers, a way for them to exchange their coins for cash or other service. The Graphic Wrap adds color and shows by picture what the machine does. The Wrap can be customized with your logo, identifiable mark or images to enhance the design and allow the unit to stand out in your business. Coin Exchange ® is available only by license from ABC Coin for use with the full CDS product line. Wraps are available for any of our self service counter products. Contact us for more information.

2. Do you ship all over the world?

ABC Coin can ship products to anywhere in the world. Some of our product lines may be covered by a local dealer / distributor partner in your area or local region to where the product is being shipped. In some cases we may refer you to this local company. If you have placed an order using our on-line store, we will contact you if the product you have requested is covered by a local dealer/distributor in your area. We ship using UPS, Fed-X, and US Mail. All products are shipped with insurance to cover the replacement cost for loss or damage. If you receive a damaged package, and/or the product is damaged inside the package, you must call your local transport company (UPS, Post Office, etc.) and report it to start the claim process. Damage must be inspected at the point it was received. The transport company will contact us for the replacement. Be sure to keep the carton and all packing material.

3. What forms of payment do you accept?

We accept Master Card, Visa, and Discover credit cards, check, money order, cash, and COD in US funds. If you are a commercial customer and would like to set up an account, you may request a credit application. First time customers wishing to open an account must have an approved credit application before placing an order. Application processing time varies and can usually be completed within 10 days.

4. What is the warranty on your equipment?

We are pleased to offer the best equipment in the industry. Most of our suppliers give a full year warranty on their equipment. Please read the specific details of each product as some manufacturers offer different warranty periods and the details of each type of warranty may vary.

5. What is your return policy?

All returns must be pre-authorized by ABC Coin. All returns are subject to a restocking charge of 15% unless due to our error. No returns accepted after 15 days. 6. Do you buy used equipment?

Yes, we do buy your working used equipment. We do not give price quotes without examining the product first and we may not buy items that we do not offer by the same manufacturer or as a new item listed in our catalog. We also offer a no risk trade-in where you can send us the item you wish to trade towards a new item and we will give you our best offer. If you do not wish to accept the offer towards a trade in, we will return your item at our cost. Call before sending any item for trade-in.

7. Do you sell used equipment?

Yes. We offer used equipment that we have refurbished to the best possible condition. Our inventory of equipment comes and goes quickly, so check often. You can call for a current list or click the link at the end to see our on-line inventory. USED EQUIPMENT LIST.

8. What is the difference between a counter and a sorter?

A coin counter is a device that will count pre-sorted coins but typically only one type of coin at a time. It cannot tell the difference between a dime or a quarter or separate the coins into different bags, bins or boxes. A coin counter will work very well if you only have one type of coin to count, such as quarters. Some laundry service, car wash, and vending operators accept only quarters and their ideal choice would be a coin counter. Coin counters are less expensive and ABC offers models that assist you with the rolling or bagging (packaging) of coins to the exact amount or quantity.
A coin counter & sorter does everything a counter will do and will also simultaneously sort into separate containers by denomination or side sort coins. Coin counters & sorters are available in portable or stationary models. See also Manual & Electric counter answer below.

9. How do I know what kind of counter I need?

The basic answer is that you will need a coin counter for counting coins and a currency counter for counting bills or currency. Unfortunately we do not know of a single machine that will do both coins and cash. See the answers below and above to help you choose the right coin counter. Click here to see answers specific to currency counters.

10. Do I need a manual or electric counter?

Typically this can be answered by asking yourself "is there always power at the locations where I will be counting my coin?" Most route operators prefer a manual type counter as they need to take the counter with them and count their coins in the field. Manual counters are less expensive but you are providing the muscle to make the unit work. Electric counters require 110volt AC power or other power source, are faster than manual counters and usually have a digital counting mechanism. Sometimes the industry that you are in will also determine what type of counter you need. Example: If your coins are wet (car wash) you will need a counter that can handle wet coin. Not all counters can do this.

11. Which is better, Flat or Cartridge coin wrappers?

Cartridge wrappers are pre-formed and crimped at one end allowing you to quickly package your coin. They look like an empty shot gun shell. The down side is that cartridge wrappers take up more space than flat and are more expensive. Flat wrappers are folded flat and must be "opened" to allow coins to go into the wrapper. Flat wrappers are less bulky to store but take longer to fold or seal the ends after being filled with coin. We offer FREE imprinting on both types.

12. Why is my bank making me use plastic bags?

We believe the federal reserve decided that clear plastic tamper resistant bags were a better alternative to cloth bags. The plastic bags solved numerous smaller problems that stemmed from cloth bags distributed through carriers. The bags are easier to electronically track, view contents, handle, mark on, and recycle. ABC offers both cloth and plastic bags for coin and cash handling.

13. Do you sell and service other equipment that is not on your web site?

No, but some of the equipment we see offered by other dealers and distributors is made or copied by manufactures overseas. There are a number of products on the market that are similar, if not identical, in function and design. We may carry some serviceable parts if the product you use is similar to the products we offer as new. Check to see if we are able to service your product by visiting our service and parts page.

14. Are scales better than coin counters?

We offer two types of scales, mechanical and electronic. Both are reliable and quick. The biggest advantage to using a scale is the speed. The accuracy is not as good as a coin counter or sorter as the scale cannot tell if a different denomination coin is mixed in with the coin your are weighing. All scales can only count pre-sorted coins of like denomination. Electronic scales also work very well for tokens or redemption tickets. Some scales also offer the option to print the totals or an amount.

15. Do you repair the items you sell?

YES. We can service and repair all of the products we sell. We can service your equipment even if you didn't purchase it from us.

16. Can I buy parts for my equipment and repair it myself?

YES. We can sell you any parts you need to service and repair your equipment. We have some service information available on our service and parts page. Please order by part number as any returned product is subject to our return policy.

17. How long does it take to get an order placed over the internet?

We ship by UPS through our internet store. Unless you request special handling, your product will ship by standard ground service. Call for an exact delivery schedule to your location.

18. Do all currency counters know the difference between denominations?

No. Most currency counters are "piece" counters and do not look at the bill other than for thickness and size. This works well in most cases, unless you have a large number of mixed bills that you must hand sort. We do offer "smart" denomination recognition currency counters. The "smart" counters are more expensive than the standard piece counters and offer many more features.

19. Do I need counterfeit detection on my currency counter?

In most cases only banks and financial institutions require a model with counterfeit detection. Unless you are counting and verifying the bills in front of your customers, by the time you have accepted and identified a counterfeit bill it is too late. Now you are faced with the decision of depositing the bogus bill or surrendering it to the authorities.

20. Do you lease your equipment?

YES. We can offer a competitive leasing option for most of the equipment we carry. Contact us for more information.
